Sustainable AI Across Its Lifecycle: gAIn at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026

How do we move from standards to science to action?

On 7 July our gAIn PI Prof. Dr. Gitta Kutyniok took part in the session “From standards to science to action: Implementing and scaling sustainable AI across its lifecycle” at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva, organized by the ITU.

The session brought together researchers, standardization bodies and industry to discuss how the environmental footprint of AI can be measured, reduced and governed – across training, deployment and the hardware it runs on. For gAIn, this is where our foundational work on energy-efficient computing meets the policy and standards landscape that will decide how sustainable AI is put into practice.
